When considering changes to a landscape, understanding the history of the site can be extremely valuable. It can:

  • Provide insights into what has and has not worked in the past;
  • Prevent damage being done to historically important elements;
  • Provide inspiration for the new landscape design and/or interpretation plan; and
  • It is also often a requirement of the planning process.

Having worked with heritage sites in the UK and abroad, FRLA is comfortable navigating the extra level of complexity that comes with them. We are experienced in researching the history of sites, designing appropriate interventions and justifying the impact these will have.
